  Nearly one year later, we're still digging the idea behind Meguiar's Wraptivo system. For under $2,000 you can design and have a professional installer wrap your car in vinyl, complete with custom graphics and textures. And to drum up more interest in the program after its debut at last year's SEMA show, Meguiar's has picked up a 2011 Honda CR-Z and enlisted the tuning talents of RJ De Vera and rendering artist Jon Sibal to show what it has planned for the 2010 show.
  
  Naturally, the CR-Z Type-F Concept is focused on the matte black and "carbon fiber" wrap, but the real party pieces are underneath the vinyl.
  
  A supercharger will be fitted to the anemic 1.5-liter four-pot, with a custom exhaust system and a Hondata ECU used to extract maximum power. Accessories from Honda's performance line will join a Tein suspension, HKS components and some Volk TE37 wheels, while the inside will benefit from a pair of Recaro buckets, Alcantara trim and a new shift knob. And while it might be easy to dismiss the Type-F (which apparently stands for "Fun") as a SEMA show queen, Meguiar's plans to enter it in Source Interlink's annual Super Lap Battle the week after the show.   Erm… okaylah, I admit. I sometimes don’t understand some people. What exactly were they expecting, joining the service? A free ride? A life of goyang kaki-ness? A career where your every wish is granted?
  Apakah?
  Dan… tidak, saya tidak hanya menumpukan kepada skim perkhidmatan yang satu itu sahaja.
  

  Oh… you know the one.

  This is just a general observation, really. Of the sheer unwillingness of certain individuals.
  What does SYMP mean to them?
  Ahhh… maybe I’m the idealistic, naïve one. Mungkin aku yang kolot dan old-fashioned. Ntahlah. I thoroughly blame my parents for inculcating this ‘service before self’ mentality in my head. Not just me, but my siblings as well.
  Ye lah… kita dibesarkan dalam persekitaran yang berbeza-beza. Fahaman terhadap sesuatu konsep pun berbeza-beza. Tapi, adakalanya, satu-satu perkara itu fahamannya cukup universal. Nak tak nak… semua orang akan sampai kepada kesimpulan yang sama. Tapi… ntahlah. Aku pun tak tahu apa nak cakap. Kalau tengok lagak sesetengah daripada mereka ni… macam kita pulak yang paksa-paksa.
  Apakah? Bukan dah tandatangan akujanji pelbagai?
  Bukanlah nak kata kena berkorban jiwa dan raga segala… tapi, adalah sikit-sikit pengorbanan tu. Tak payahlah over sangat… sampai tak jumpa keluarga langsung ke apa ke. Yelah, keluarga #1 – forever and always.
  Tapi janganlah sampai perkhidmatan diabaikan, kan? Kenalah ada balance. Kadang-kadang, kita kena bersakit-sakit dulu… kena suffer kejap… supaya later on in life, kita tak payah suffer dah. We’ve paid our dues. We’ve gone above and beyond what is expected of us. Orang lain punya giliran pulak lah.
  Ni janganlah dues have yet to be paid, tapi terus nak reward. Apakah?

  Why "Ninja Marketing Tactics"? Isn't volume of content what you need for success online?
  
  You have no budget for marketing and have seen videos and articles with thousands of views. You were told by some "guru" that articles and videos are a great way to drive free traffic to a website. So you embark on a plan to create a zillion pieces of content hoping that will finally get your business really moving along. After a few weeks of "content creation", you are tired and almost nobody has seen what you have created. Sound Familiar?
  
  Let's face it, one article or video that has had thousands of views is much better than a bunch of pieces of content that only get a few views each. A lot of views on a single article or video is much better than having tons of content all over the net buried in places where nobody will ever find it. Well viewed content often gets embedded on social media sites like Facebook, tweeted on Twitter, embedded in blogs and duplicated all over the internet. The key to getting your content to go viral online is getting it viewed. The best way to get your content viewed is to get it to show up on page one, above the fold, in the organic listings of the various search engines.
  
  To get your content well placed in the search engines, you need to optimize it. For articles, this is best done by choosing keywords that people are looking for and then using those keywords in your title, article body and in the tags. For videos, your keywords need to be in the title and in the description. Finding keywords that people are looking for requires that you learn about keyword research. Google's free keyword tool is a great place to start, but there are also fee based tools that can help you discover keywords to create content about that are very popular.
  
  You have a great bunch of keywords, but people are still not viewing your content.
  
  Finding popular keywords is only part of the battle. Anyone can write an article using the keywords "make money online", "online marketing" or "nutritional supplement". When you put the video on a video hosting site such as YouTube, you can create a link in the description of the video that sends people to your article. This type of link will drive more traffic to your article and also increases the relevance for the search engines when people search for your keywords.
  
  While getting a link from a video site such as YouTube can greatly help in optimizing your content, links from other sites using anchor text are also very effective. A post in a blog, for instance, that creates a clickable link to your content where the clickable link has your keywords in it can help push your content up and get you more views.
  
  You can use this concept top push all of your content up in the search engines. Linking a video to a blog post, a blog post to an article, an article to a video or any combination of the above can help push whatever content you want to emphasize up in the search engines.
  
  You can also get others to help you online by having them do the same.

  Learning how to create content that gets found in the search engines and viewed by many is a skill that can be learned, but the techniques are constantly changing and evolving.   RASANYA tidak ada di antara pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat di Johor yangg terlalu bodoh dan naif untuk mengaitkan kempen politik dengan istana. Apatah lagi jika menggantung sepanduk memaparkan wajah Sultan Johor.

  Lebih bodoh lagi apabila Dr Chua disifatkan sebagai calon Menteri Besar; sesuatu yang mustahil bagi negeri-negeri Melayu yang berketuakan seorang Sultan.

  Para pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat, dari peringkat organisasi paling bawah – cawangan atau ranting – hinggalah ke peringkat nasional tentu maklum tentang perkara-perkara asas dalam perlembagaan negara dan negeri.

  Proses perlantikan Menteri Besar Perak sebaik berakhirnya Pilihan Raya Umum 2008 dan krisis yang tercetus akibat rampasan kuasa BN banyak mengajar mereka tentang perkara-perkara berhubung perlembagaan negeri dan kuasa yang ada pada Raja-Raja Melayu dalam memilih Menteri Besar.

  Adalah mustahil bagi seorang pemimpin politik bukan Melayu dan bukan Islam untuk dipilih sebagai calon Menteri Besar kerana secara tersurat mahupun tersirat, Menteri Besar bagi sebuah negeri Melayu mestilah seorang Melayu yang ditakrifkan juga sebagai seorang Islam.

  Sehubungan itu, adalah suatu tindakan yang bodoh dan naif untuk PKR menggantung sepanduk dan mengisytiharkan Dr Chua sebagai Menteri Besar. Apatah lagi di saat istana Johor beberapa bulan lalu telah menarik balik gelaran Datuk Seri yang dianugerahkan kepada bekas Menteri Kabinet itu.

  Setakat ini Dr Chua dan para pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat negeri menafikan bahawa sepanduk itu digantung oleh aktivis PKR. Malah Dr Chua tanpa ragu-ragu menganggap ianya sebagai ‘kerja’ orang Umno bagi menjejaskan imejnya.

  Jika benarpun sepanduk itu dipasang ketika PKR dan Pakatan Rakyat mengadakan majlis di Batu Pahat, kerja bodoh itu tidak semestinya dilakukan oleh petugas parti. Ia juga telah dinafikan para pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat negeri.

  Program lawatan Anwar ke Batu Pahat pada 31 Julai lalu sebenarnya tidak berjalan lancar kerana diganggu pihak polis. Anwar dijadualkan berucap di Markaz PAS Kampung Sungai Tongkang, Batu Pahat selepas menghadiri majlis makan malam dan perasmian Pakatan Rakyat Batu Pahat di Restoran Grand Sea View, di Jalan Tanjung Labuh.

  Sepanduk yang digantung di sebuah dewan, tempat Anwar dijadualkan berceramah turut diturunkan pihak polis walaupun ia tidak memaparkan wajah sultan.

  Pihak penganjur terpaksa membatalkan ceramah berkenaan selepas diserbu oleh pihak polis dan Unit Simpanan Persekutuan (FRU).

  Tujuh orang termasuk peniaga ditahan di Balai Polis Rengit tetapi mereka dibebaskan dengan jaminan polis keesokan paginya.

  Bila polis masih sibuk mengganggu ceramah-ceramah Pakatan Rakyat di saat indeks jenayah negara semakin meningkat, kita tentunya maklum pihak di sebalik arahan itu.

  Walau apa pun motif kejadian tersebut, nyata ada pihak yang tidak begitu senang dengan kemaraan Pakatan Rakyat di Johor.

  Kerja-kerja sabotaj ini bukanlah suatu yang asing bagi BN dan Umno.

  Lihat sahajalah bagaimana Presiden Semangat 46, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah dijadikan sasaran fitnah Umno dan BN seminggu sebelum pilihan raya umum 1990 berlangsung.

  Pada waktu itu, Tengku Razaleigh yang memimpin dua gagasan politik, Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah dan Gagasan Rakyat mempunyai peluang besar bagi menewaskan BN. Tengku Razaleigh berjaya mendapatkan sokongan Presiden Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Dato’ Joseph Pairin Kitingan dan menjadikan kedudukan BN bagaikan telur dihujung tanduk.

  Selain berasa tidak selamat di Semenanjung, BN yang dipimpin Dr Mahathir Mohamad ketika itu terkejut dengan kejayaan Ku Li menkucar-kacirkan kubu BN di Sabah melalui PBS. Ku Li juga aktif mencari sokongan dan pakatan politik dengan parti-parti politik Sarawak.

  Dan sudah menjadi resmi politik Umno untuk memainkan sentimen kaum dan agama bagi meraih sokongan rakyat. Sigah Kadazan yang dipakai Ku Li dijadikan modal untuk menggambarkan beliau sebagai seorang oportunis politik yang sanggup menjual agama dan bangsa semata-mata untuk berkuasa, sedangkan sigah yang sama (bermotif salib) dipakai Presiden Umno yang juga Perdana Menteri ketika berkunjung ke Sabah.

  Kempen jijik Umno yang dilancarkan dengan bantuan media massa utama negara itu berjaya menjatuhkan imej Ku Li di mata pengundi Melayu, dan hasilnya Semangat 46 kalah di kebanyakan kerusi majoriti Melayu kecuali di Kelantan. Usaha untuk menepis fitnah dan pembohongan Umno melalui penyebaran foto Dr Mahathir yang memakai sigah yang sama juga gagal akibat ketiadaan media alternatif yang berkesan.

  Insiden yang berlaku di Johor ini tidak mustahil dilakukan oleh Umno yang semakin gusar dengan penularan pengaruh Pakatan Rakyat di negeri itu. Ia bukanlah sesuatu yang di luar kebiasaan berbanding apa yang pernah dilakukan oleh parti itu sebelum ini.

  Kerja-kerja sabotaj bukan sesuatu yang asing dalam kempen politik Umno. Dalam sejarah politik negara, Umno bukan sahaja sanggup berbohong, memanipulasikan fakta, hatta secara semberono memperalatkan jentera dan pentadbiran kerajaan untuk terus berkuasa.

  Menuduh Pakatan Rakyat sebagai tidak menghormati istana ekoran insiden sepanduk itu juga adalah strategi Umno bagi menjauhkan sokongan orang Melayu terhadap PAS, PKR dan DAP.

  Rakyat Johor sendiri boleh menilai parti manakah sebenarnya yang sering memperalatkan istana untuk terus berkuasa hatta mewar-warkan bahawa Umno ditubuhkan di tangga istana.

  Ketika diminta mengulas bidasan Dr Chua bahawa sepanduk itu sebenarnya digantung Umno bagi menjejaskan imej beliau, Menteri Besar Johor Dato’ Abdul Ghani Othman menafikannya.

  “Tiada siapa hendak buat pun, kita tidak pernah mengamalkan politik seperti itu. Apa yang kita tahu parti pembangkang yang membuat perjumpaan dalam tempoh berkenaan dan kain rentang yang dimaksudkan itu dinaikkan,” kenyataan beliau dipetik media.

  Abdul Ghani boleh membuat penafian tetapi semuanya kini terserah kepada tanggapan umum. Rakyat bukanlah senaif dahulu tatkala pemerintah mempunyai kuasa untuk mengawal sumber maklumat.

  Dalam perkembangan berkaitan tiga anggota polis pada 18 Ogos lalu telah merakam kenyataan Ketua Umum PKR, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim di ibu pejabat parti itu di Tropicana, Petaling Jaya.

  Turut hadir dalam pertemuan hampir 1 jam itu ialah Pengerusi Perhubungan PKR Johor, Datuk Chua Jui Meng.

  Keterangan itu bagi membantu siasatan berhubung penggunaan foto Sultan Johor pada kain rentang itu.

  Pada sidang media selepas dirakamkan kenyataannya, Anwar berkata isu kain rentang provokatif itu bertujuan mengheret institusi diraja ke kancah politik kepartian sebagai muslihat dan niat buruk dengan matlamat menimbulkan kemarahan rakyat Johor, terutamanya di kawasan majoriti Melayu di luar bandar.

  “Sudah tentu perkara ini tidak menguntungkan PKR ataupun Pakatan Rakyat. Ia sengaja dihantar ke kawasan majoriti orang Melayu, seolah-olah kita memperkenalkan Datuk Chua Jui sebagai Menteri Besar Johor,” tegasnya.

  Chua pula berkata tindakan memasang sepanduk itu berniat jahat untuk menimbulkan kemurkaan Sultan Johor.

  “Kita tidak sebegitu bodoh untuk katakan, yang saya dicalonkan sebagai Menteri Besar Johor. Ini adalah satu muslihat yang gagal.

  “Sebagai seorang peguam yang terlatih dalam bidang undang-undang, saya tahu bahawa orang Cina seperti saya tidak boleh menjadi Menteri Besar. Ini tak masuk akal dan tak logik langsung.

  “Matlamat mereka gagal, kerana tidak ramai orang yang percaya dengan apa yang ditulis di atas kain rentang itu. Tiada siapa yang untung daripada perbuatan mereka ini. Jadi kami minta pegawai polis siasat dengan segera kejadian ini, dan tangkap mereka yang terlibat dengan komplot ini,” kata Chua.

  Apa juga yang berlaku, kita menuntut pihak polis menjalankan siasatan menyeluruh bagi mencari dalang sebenar kejadian itu.

  Kita tidak mahu kejadian ini terbiar menjadi misteri. Seperti juga misteri yang berlegar berhubung insiden cubaan rasuah Umno terhadap calon PAS di Dun Pasir Raja, Johor pada pilihan raya umum 2004. Bukti tentang kejadian rasuah itu benar-benar kukuh. Sipelakunya ditangkap di rumah calon PAS sendiri. Nombor telefon calon BN juga disimpan dalam telefon tertuduh. Kejadian itu dirakam dengan kamera dan video. Pertuduhan dibacakan pegawai BPR ketika tangkapan dibuat dan wang suapan itu diambil pegawai Badan Pencegah Rasuah (BPR) sebagai bukti.

  Pegawai BPR yang hadir memuji usaha para petugas PAS memerangkap sipelaku rasuah. Malah polis yang cuba campur tangan tidak dibenarkan masuk ke rumah calon sehingga pegawai BPR hadir.

  Apabila ditanya BPR yang kini diangkat status sebagai Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM), para pegawainya berkata, “kami dan serah kertas pertuduhan ke Pejabat Peguam Negara.”

  Namun sudah enam tahun berlalu, tiada sebarang pertuduhan yang dilakukan Peguam Negara. Itu pun satu misteri juga!

Terrorist attacks, suicide bombings and the jihadist call for Muslims “to rise up against the oppression of the West” are widespread.

  The radical fringe carrying out such actions has sought to dominate the discourse between Islam and the West. In order to do so, they’ve set out to foment anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism. They’ve also advocated indiscriminate violence as a political strategy. To cap their victory, this abysmal lot uses the cataclysm of 9/11 as a lesson for the so-called enemies of Islam.

  These dastardly acts have not only been tragedies of untold proportions for those who have suffered or perished. They have also delivered a calamitous blow to followers of the Muslim faith.

  These are the Muslims who go about their lives like ordinary people—earning their livings, raising their families, celebrating reunions and praying for security and peace. These are the Muslims who have never carried a pocketknife, let alone explosives intended to destroy buildings. These Muslims are there for us to see, if only we can lift the veil cast on them by the shadowy figures in bomb-laden jackets hell-bent on destruction.

  These are mainstream Muslims—no different from the moderate Christians, Jews and those of other faiths—whose identities have been drowned by events beyond their control. The upshot is a composite picture of Muslims as inherently intolerant, antidemocratic, inward-looking and simply unable to coexist with other communities in the modern world. Some say there is only one solution: Discard your beliefs and your tradition, and embrace pluralism and modernity.

  This prescription is deeply flawed. The vast majority of Muslims already see themselves as part of a civilization that is heir to a noble tradition of science, philosophy and spirituality that places paramount importance on the sanctity of human life. Holding fast to the principles of democracy, freedom and human rights, these hundreds of millions of Muslims fervently reject fanaticism in all its varied guises.

  Yet Muslims must do more than just talk about their great intellectual and cultural heritage. We must be at the forefront of those who reject violence and terrorism. And our activism must not end there. The tyrants and oppressive regimes that have been the real impediment to peace and progress in the Muslim world must hear our unanimous condemnation. The ball is in our court.

  WHEN the reporters asked me at the PJ Sessions Court this morning what I thought about this Government of Malaysia
  vs Hassan Skodeng case, where Irwan Abdul Rahman, 36, aka Hassan Skodeng is being charged of sending out false information on the Internet with the malicious intent of annoying another person, I said that as a blogger I was truly annoyed by the fact that the AG's Chamber or the MCMC or TNB saw it necessary to turn this into a court case.
  I said: "I thought only the past Administration under the previous prime minister was capable of such @#*! action. Obviously, under this Admin and this Prime Minister, we haven't changed that much".
  I added: "I wanted to say this is a waste of the court's time and taxpayers' money but I won't say that. (I'd say) let's hope this case will help educate some people on what satire means".
  24 Nov 2010 is the next court date for Hassan Skodeng. PJ Sessions Court, 8.30 am. Mahaguru 58 told me in the court house the time has come for bloggers to unite again because obviously the "authorities are not done with intimidating us". "They have not learned anything from March 2008".
  Yeah, easier said than done. The Malaysian blogosphere is so fragmented, Mahaguru. Divided and ruled by politicians.
  But I'm soothed by the fact that Hassan Skodeng is determined to fight this attempt to intimidate him (I'm not sure who's trying to intimidate and who his satire annoyed - the AG, Rais Yatim the minister, or Che Khalib the mighty TNB ceo; past cases against bloggers/commenters using Section 233 (1) (a) had been against the Sultan of Perak and the Sultan of Johor).
  And happy to note that another blogger - Jahabardeen - will be defending Irwan against his accusers.
  And my own lawyer Edmund Bon has been sending tweets on how this one should be dealt with.
  Happier still to note that Art Harun had sms-ed to offer his services if Skodeng is without counsel, although he "doesn't usually do criminal cases".
  And plain happy to see some good old bloggers there this morning: Sheih Kickdefella, Syed Akbar Ali, Big Dog aka Zakhir Mohamad, Shamsul Yunus of the Marahku blog, Nuraina A. Samad, Jebat Must Die, and Mahaguru 58.

  All in all, just like the good old days. Well, almost.

  Standardized Testing: A Race To Nowhere

  Race To Nowhere is an excellent description of the standardized testing movement. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, increased the role of the federal government in public education and also expanded the role of standardized testing. This morning, I had a conversation with another educator who was ending a California State Testing week. The dedication of this teacher is commendable; although exhausted and stressed, this educator was hopeful that her students did well. She wanted them to have a chance at the best education possible. When I mentioned to her the best education possible is not based on state testing, she went through the myriad of reasons why testing is a benefit. These alleged benefits of standardized testing permeate the public educational system causing harm to students, teachers and the future of public education as a whole.
  According to the California Department of Education, the purpose of standardized testing is “to measure how well students are learning the knowledge and skills identified in California’s content standards.” In addition, standardized testing results will assist with focusing curricular instruction and organizing teaching methods. The goals of standardized testing seem to be falling short; instead of measuring student knowledge and focusing instruction and methods, the rigor of testing seems to be a silent erosion of our school system. A recent documentary, Race To Nowhere, chronicles the culture of today’s youth in public school. According to the documentary, the epidemic of standardized testing has produced a culture for cheating, disengaging students, stress-related illness, depression, burnout, and of compromised young adults seemingly unprepared and uninspired for the future.
  “Only a handful of scholars and practitioners have argued in defense of standardized tests,” wrote Lishing Wang and fellow researchers Gulbahar H. Beckette and Lionel Brown. The Educational Research Newsletter analyzed the pros and cons of standard-based assessments. According to the website one of the pros of these assessments are a common core of knowledge. These common standards assist in comparing grades across teachers and schools. Students should be expected to meet common standards that are challenging and are more than just minimum requirements regardless of socioeconomic status, race or disability. The other side argues that by imposing standards on students’ minds they are constricting intellectual freedom. These standardized tests oversimplify the core knowledge and do not test higher-order thinking. Cookie cutter standards either dumb down instruction or condemn low-ability students to frequent failure. Students can become disengaged and burned out.
  Regardless of the side of the argument, all students, teachers and schools are not created equal and this fact is not taken into account when examining the practice of standardization. The practice of standardized test are to meant to level the playing field when in fact the playing field with struggling learners in school is never level. In other words the interventions that are being utilized to assist struggling students are not individualized or unsuccessful. According to the California Department of Education website’s data for July of 2008, 13, 237 students took the Math portion of the California Exit Exam and 13, 373 students took the English portion of the exam. 29% of the students passed the Math and 30% passed the English portions of the test for the state. When we superimpose the same standards on every student, teacher and school, we receive results that are disappointing—a race to nowhere.
  These disappointing results are rooted in non-profit school communities maintaining for-profit activities, i.e., test scores. Data has become the catch phrase and teacher’s names are associated directly with their student’s scores. Improvement has been demanded on the back of a shocked system, and therefore an increase of assessments and pacing guides has followed. This increase of standardized testing is big business for the private sector. There are four companies that dominate the testing market: Harcourt Educational Measurement, CTB McGraw-Hill, Riverside Publishing (a Houghton Mifflin company), and NCS Pearson- three test publishers and one scoring firm. Press reports value the testing market anywhere from $400 million to $700 million. There is a top-down chain between policy, content, materials, and instruction. Policymakers dictate the content, textbook companies convert the content into materials and schools purchase these materials for consumption by teachers and students. According to a blog entitled, When Pedagogy and Policy Collide written by Brigitte Knudson, what America is experiencing is called “commodification” of education. In others words, education has became a commodity or moneymaker. Knudson goes on to state, “Education – the process of learning – has been co-opted by an alliance of business and government interests, for the dual purposes of maintaining the government’s economic interests and propelling the private sector, all while fostering a climate of continual educational crisis in the country that places blame on a system of its own creation that is intentionally underfunded to perpetuate the cycle.” This marriage of big business, government and non-profit school communities continues to lead to disappointment and a move toward privatization of public education. It’s a lose-lose situation as reformers concentrate on splintered areas of need while big business and government erode the core, destroying the public education system right under our noses.

  Ok, so finally Windows Phone 7 reach the RTM (release to manufacturing ) stages, another step closer to much awaited date of releasing it to the world to enjoy… or criticizing it.  Windows Phone 7 is one massive project for Microsoft, that require notably effort from the whole team to make it as it is today. This is the testament to the effort and dollar that Microsoft has poured to this project, and it’s ain’t cheap!

  “We had nearly ten thousand devices running automated tests daily, over a half million hours of active self-hosting use, over three and a half million hours of stress test passes, and eight and a half million hours of fully automated test passes.  We’ve had thousands of independent software vendors and early adopters testing our software and giving us great feedback. We are ready”

  And yes, they’re ready!!

  Lelaki selalu dikaitkan dengan sikap tidak pernah ingat tarikh-tarikh tertentu orang-orang yang berada di sekeliling. Tarikh lahir anak pun ada yang tak ingat... yang bini punya lagilah tak diambil berat. Lagi pulak kalau dah ada anak empat. Kalau teringat pun pasti sudah terlambat. Itupun sebab mintak dengan bini tak dapat-dapat, barulah kepalahotak tu berpusing ligat, memikirkan apakah kesalahan yang telah dibuat, rupanya ada hari yang patutnya dapat, tapi terlupa sebab malam tu bukan malam jumaat.
  
  Tapi aku bukan jenis lelaki begitu. Semua tarikh penting aku ingat tau. Tak caya tanya bini aku. Siapa yang bisikkan di telinganya "Selamat Hari Lahir Sayang" tepat jam 12 tengahmalam pada hari lahirnya? Dah tentulah aku.. takkan orang lain pulak. Kalau ada orang lain dekat dengan telinga bini aku... nak kena pelangkung dengan akulah jawabnya. Even tarikh kali pertama aku jumpa dia pun aku ingat tau. Siap jadikan anniversary jugak selain anniversary kawin. Tapi tak semestinya aku ingat tarikh-tarikh tu semua bermakna aku selalu dapat.. uwaaaa... tak jugak uwaaaaaaaaaa.
  
  Yang aku nak cerita benda lain.. dah jadi benda lain pulak.. yang sebenarnya.. hari ni hari lahir mak aku.. yang ke berapa ek... jap ya nak tekan kalkulator... 2010 - 1936 = 74 tahun. Pada yang tatau lagi.. mak aku tinggal dengan aku. Tapi sekarang ni dia ada kat umah adik aku sebab adik aku baru bersalin. Oleh sebab itu.. aku ada alasan untuk terlupa lah pasal hari lahir mak aku ni pagi tadik... nasib baik ada orang datang suruh sign surat sekejap tadik. Masa tulis tarikh kat surat tu baru teringat.. ehhhh 2 September... birthday Mak ni. Lagi pun aku dah lama tak tidur dengan Mak aku.. jadi ada lagi alasan kenapa aku tak wish kat mak aku tepat jam 12 tengahmalam tadik!

  On the software side, an app called ‘Dial’ need to be installed only at jailbroken iPod Touch, yeah you need to jailbreak your iPod Touch in order for it to be installed, from Cydia. On the looks, it looks bulky, in fact bulkier than Apple Peel 520, but that’s the price you have to pay if you’re not willing to fork out more money for an iPhone.

  tPhone ‘s unconfirmed price tag is $700 yuan or about USD103. With the combined price of casing and the iPod Touch, it seems that it is no longer viable alternative to iPhone, at least to me.

  Recently, students across the country took the Advanced Placement English Literature exam. This three hour test, which grants college credit to qualifying students, is the culmination of a year of intense study and preparation in a high level class. On this year’s exam, students were asked to write an essay in response to the following quote: "Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be surmounted."
  
  While exile as a theme is a good launching point for an essay, the College Board used the topic to launch an apparent political agenda by identifying the author of the quote as “Palestinian American literary theorist and cultural critic Edward Said.”
  
  Quoting Edward Said, a man who has infamously been photographed throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, isn’t the issue. It isn’t even quoting a Palestinian, per se. What is problematic is the linking of a Palestinian with a quote about “exile.” It creates a sympathetic image of exiled Palestinians without any qualifications. It assumes one side in a longstanding conflict. After spending a year studying the nuances in language and writing, most of my students did not miss this inference.
  
  Many of them had a fundamental problem with the question. As a teacher, I had a serious problem with it.
  
  Political propaganda is something my students will certainly get used to, particularly as they head off to college campuses in the fall. But it has no place on a high-stakes exam that is supposed to be standardized. Not when they’ve worked hard all year studying literature and language.
  
  They were blindsided and left with a choice: agree with the quote about Palestinian exile and write an essay, or disagree with the supposition that the Palestinians were torn from their “true home” and possibly throw their chances at a high score.
  
  There isn’t anything “standardized” about that.
  
  The College Board is particularly sensitive to language. This prompt could not have come out of nowhere. Politically motivated and particularly disturbing in its inclusion on the exam, it is a manipulation of facts and as such, it is a manipulation of education. In essence, this educational measure was a forced indoctrination of the College Board’s political beliefs.
  
  I voiced my concern to the College Board and was told that they had not received any complaints. I called two more times and received the same reply. A Facebook group of close to 700 members has voiced its concerns. An article was written about this issue in a Jewish newspaper, The Forward, but still the College Board claims that they know nothing about the “problem.”
  
  I shouldn’t be surprised. They are simply following the higher academia pied pipers down the path of bias and partiality. Literature and Composition: Reading, Writing, and Thinking, the Bedford St. Martin Press anthology just completed for the AP Literature course, contains two poems by Palestinians. Not one Israeli poet or author is quoted. Not even as an alternate view to Mahmoud Darwish’s “Identity Card”.
  
  The College Board is notoriously politically correct. In fact, their dedication to being PC has gotten them in trouble over the years. But this time, they have chosen sides in a controversy that has offended a large portion of their testing audience. They have drawn lines, not in the sands of higher academia, but in the sandboxes of impressionable high school students.
  
  Many in the academic world have pooh-poohed the controversy and called the protesting students overly sensitive or even racist. Interestingly, the same day as the exam, students in Brandies University were dismayed to learn that Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren was asked to give the commencement address. The student newspaper came out against the choice on the grounds that Oren is “a divisive and inappropriate choice” because “the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a hotly contested political issue, one that inspires students with serious positions on the topic to fervently defend and promote their views.”
  
  I find it remarkable that University students cannot handle political controversy, but high school students are expected to “get over it.” Moreover, they are forced to actually agree with a statement they dispute, from a man who is so controversial that even his status as a Palestinian is questionable.
  
  As an AP teacher, I have respectfully told my school that I am not comfortable teaching a course that has a clear political agenda. My students would be better served taking a literature course at their local university and graduating with actual college credit rather than relying on a politically biased exam to test their skills.
  
  And while they will get their fair share of propaganda on campuses, at least the manipulationwill be blatant. There will be opportunity to debate.
  
  I can’t say the same for the College Board.

  Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo sebaiknya berdiam diri saja kerana dakwaan yang ditimbulkannya terhadap pentadbiran Selangor hanya akan memakan diri sendiri, kata setiausaha politik kepada menteri besar Selangor, Faekah Husin.

  Faekah mendakwa banyak masalah yang berlaku di negeri itu pada masa sekarang sebenarnya berpunca daripada keputusan yang dibuat sewaktu pentadbiran Khir Toyo.

  Faekah memberi contoh, keadaan itu boleh dilihat dalam isu melibatkan pembahagian tanah kepada peneroka di sebuah tanah rancangan di Bandar Alam Perdana, Kuala Selangor.

  Jelasnya, peneroka berkenaan telah memohon untuk mendapatkan geran kecil bagi tanah seluas antara 60 hingga 120 ekar itu.

  Bagaimanapun, terdapat beberapa individu yang mengemukakan injunksi di mahkamah bagi menghalang geran berkenaan dikeluarkan.

  “Di sinilah bermula komen-komen negatif itu. Jadi kerajaan negeri kena jawab dan cari apakah punca masalah sebenar,” katanya lagi.

  Tambahnya, beliau telah membuat siasatan dan terkejut apabila mendapati terdapat antara pemilik tanah tersebut merupakan pemimpin Umno di negeri itu.

  “Sangat malang apabila saya terjumpa beberapa nama. Doktor gigi pun ada yang jadi peneroka Felda,” katanya yang telah menyiasat nama pemilik tanah berkenaan.

  Beliau juga mendedahkan mengenai amalan pemberian bonus oleh Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) kepada menteri besar.

  “Tidak hairanlah isu bonus menjadi fokus apabila kita timbulkan isu kecurian pasir,” kata Faekah lagi dalam satu temubual dengan Malaysiakini semalam.

  Katanya, Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sebelum ini berang apabila diberitahu bahawa beliau diberi bayaran sebanyak RM135,000 oleh syarikat milik kerajaan negeri itu.

  Faekah berkata, beliau kemudiannya diarahkan oleh Khalid untuk menyiasat siapakah yang memberi arahan untuk meluluskan bayaran berkenaan dan apakah prosedur yang telibat.

  Faekah kemudiannya berkata, beliau telah menghubungi pegawai kewangan PKNS yang menjelaskan bahawa pemberian bonus kepada menteri besar merupakan amalan biasa sejak pentadbiran terdahulu.

  “Sebab itu saya kata, kalau saya jadi Khir Toyo saya akan berdiam diri sahaja,” kata Faekah lagi.

  New iPod Touch: Retina display, FaceTime, camera, HD video recording

  

  Yes! Apple iPod touch now has 2 build-in camera, front-camera for FaceTime and back-camera for shooting HD video(720p) and (low quality) photos. Like the iPhone 4, new iPod touch has the Retina display and A4 chip (read: better performance).

  The FaceTime on iPod touch allows you to make video calls to family and friends (with new iPod touch or iPhone 4) over WiFi network. It’s free. Like games? The new Game Center on iPod touch lets you add friends to your gaming network and challenge them.

  Did I tell you that new iPod touch is even thinner than the previous model? The battery life is 40 hours music playback and 7 hours video.

  If you are thinking, “Now iPod touch has camera, it is the iPhone 4 without only call function and GPS”. You are almost correct.

  Sadly, the camera build-in iPod touch is meant for video shooting. The photo shooting resolution is ONLY 960×720 pixels. Why 960 pixel for photo height, and not HD video’s 1280 pixels? Well, I guess it is because the iPod touch screen resolution is 960x640 pixels.

  In short, iPod touch does NOT have a great camera, forget about taking great photo with it.

  Price: USD$229 (8GB), USD$299 (32GB) and USD$399 (64GB)

  New iPod nano with (small) touchscreen

  

  Unlike previous iPod nano models with long rectangle shape, the new iPod nano is, like iPod shuffle, in a small square shape and clip-able. Available in 7 colors, 8Gb or 16GB.

  It is slightly bigger than iPod shuffle and comes with 1.5-inch, 240×240 pixels multi-touch display. The iPod nano’s display is so small that it can only display 4 icons at one time. Tapping on iPod nano would be like poking your own palm.

  Not fat-fingers-friendly. But nice to be a small shiny digital photo frame that clipped on your body to show off to your friends.

  For its main feature — Music. It has 24 hours of music playback battery life and FM radio tuner with live pause (yes, you can pause a live radio broadcast up to 15 minutes).

  Though small in size, iPod nano still have the build-in 30-pin connector like iPhone/iPod Touch to be able plug it into your existing iPod accessories, e.g. car stereo system, speakers. New iPod nano also has build-in accessibility to be disabilities friendly.

  What’s missing from previous iPod nano is the video camera and cannot playback videos.

  Price: USD$149 (8GB), USD$179 (16GB)

  The iPod shuffle is now in a small square shape aluminum clip body with buttons. It comes with 5 colors: silver, blue, green, orange, and pink. 15 hours of battery life and 2GB storage space.

  The clickable control is back to iPod shuffle (previous model is buttonless) and 18% bigger. VoiceOver feature is still available to tell you the song’s title or artist in 25 different languages.

  New iPod shuffle supports multiple playlist and Genius Mixes (automatically mix your music together).

  Price: USD$49 (2GB)

  Malaysia price: RM179 (2GB) (estimated ship: 5-7 business days)

  My two cents

  Nothing much about the iPod shuffle. Get it if you want to own an Apple product at lowest budget.

  The iPod nano with multi-touch display is shiny but I don’t think it’ll be fingers-friendly. Nice to be a small digital photo frame keychain with music playback, which make it a nice & affordable gift for your love and friends.

  iPod touch is more powerful (new A4 chip) and more useful (cameras) and more affordable (cheaper than previous model). It is great if you already have a phone and want another device for music, video, games, and free video call (provided your other end is using iPod touch/iPhone 4).

  I would recommend you to buy iPod touch, instead of iPod nano. With a little extra money, you get few times bigger display and many more features (read: FUN).

  We all know how reading can benefit us both in our personal and business lives. When we read, we learn many things and we even have the opportunity to improve our communication skills although we may not be aware of it. We are exposed to the right usage of language and correct structure of sentences when we read that's why our communication skills are improved. Those who read for pleasure are benefiting from it though they may not be aware of it. For children, though, reading can be a very powerful tool. By having the entire family join a book club, the children can become interested in reading or in books. Kids can benefit from reading in three different ways.
  
  Firstly, those who grew up reading books have a higher chance of excelling in their studies and finding great jobs. But we're not talking about occasional readers or comic book readers who are mostly dealing with incorrect or informal usage of a language. We are referring to those who have the opportunity to develop a love for reading so that they actually pick a worthy book themselves and just start flipping the pages without an adult or elder telling them. We are talking about those whou would love to join book clubs or perhaps collect books by themselves. When children are able to develop this kind of habit, they can eventually master written word and eventually sharpen their intellectual abilities as well. There are of course other means to do this but reading is by far the most favored one.
  
  The second is that those children who love reading can learn so many things from the books they choose to read. The subjects aren't limited. These books can include subject matters like those discussed in schools like biology, physics or chemistry. Even reading fiction has its benefits. Reading can open a child's mind to different possibilities about life. Although it would take an actual experience of things to be able to really learn from them, it cannot be denied that knowing about certain life situations ahead in fiction can make us think twice about possibly making such events happen in reality. When children read, they are exposed to different scenarios about life and somehow, when they have to go through such scenarios for real in their own lives, they will not completely new to the situation because somehow, he has gained insights from a good book that he has read.
  
  Third, reading improves a child's writing ability. While it is easy to say that a speaker is a good one just by listening to his pronunciation and delivery, not all good speakers are good writers. There are good speakers but when it's time for them to write, they find it hard to construct good written sentences. But a person who is good in writing, is most probably, good in speaking as well. To improve a child's writing skills, it is important to expose him to the correct and formal usage of language through the published books that he reads. This way, the kid masters the language subconsciously which is, by the way, the best method for learning anything, whether not related to language.

  Usaha beberapa ulama dan para pemimpin PAS mengemukakan hujah Al-Quran dan Sunnah yang mengharuskan orang bukan Islam memasuki masjid, setelah mendapat izin pihak berkenaan, telah dapat membersihkan imej Islam yang dikotori golongan tertentu.

  Malah telah mempererat lagi hubungan antara parti-parti dalam Pakatan Rakyat serta menggagalkan usaha mereka memecah belahkan Pakatan Rakyat dengan menimbulkan pelbagai isu yang bersifat fitnah, tuduhan dan rangkaian kata-kata karut marut yang disebarkan dalam media tradisional yang dikuasai golongan itu.

  Tokoh ulama seperti Tuan Guru Haji Nik Abd Aziz Nik Mat, Dr. Muhd Nur Manuty, Dr. Dzulkifly Ahmad, Dr. Mujahid Yusuf Rawa dan lain-lain serta para tokoh pemimpin PAS, Haji Mahfuz Omar, Salahuddin Ayub dan lain-lain telah benar-benar membantu menjernihkan keadaan, di samping memperlihatkan wajah Islam sebenar kepada anggota Pakatan Rakyat.

  Dengan itu, gagallah usaha musuh politik Pakatan Rakyat – Umno/BN – untuk memporakperandakan Pakatan Rakyat dengan menaburkan isu karut marut yang sangat berbau perkauman dan kebencian.

  Malah kita terkesan juga bahawa umat Islam sendiri kebanyakannya faham hal ini dan tidak terpedaya dengan isu palsu yang ditimbulkan. Masjid dan surau, kuliah-kuliah, tazkirah tidak lansung membangkitkan isu ini bahkan melawan balik – suatu isyarat bahawa umat Islam sedar isu ini hanya ‘permainan’ golongan politik sekular yang bangkrap idea.

  Bahkan susana Bazaar Ramadan sendiri – tempat rakyat biasa pelbagai kaum dan agama – tetap harmonis, dengan pelbagai golongan rakyat membeli pelbagai juadah dengan wajah ceria, seperti tidak terkesanpun dengan berita palsu yang karut marut.

  PAS telah berdiri gagah menampilkan kebijaksanaannya dengan mengemukakan pandangan Islam yang sebenar mengenai isu palsu yang dibangkitkan itu, iaitu seperti isu khatib dikatakan berdoa kepada pemimpin bukan Islam, isu wakil rakyat bukan Islam mengunjungi masjid dan surau untuk menyampaikan bantuan dan berucap pendek.

  Pemimpin dan pendukung Pakatan Rakyat dari kalangan Islam dan bukan Islam mendapat fahaman Islam yang cukup jelas mengenai isu ini dengan penerangan para tokoh in. Sementara ulama seperti Tuan Guru Haji Nik Abd Aziz Nik Mat, Dr. Muhd Nur Manuty, Dr. Asri Zainal Abidin dan lain-lain telah menjernihkan imej Islam yang dikotori oleh golongan tertentu. Tokoh ulama berwibawa ini telah mengemukakan hujah ilmu mereka berdasarkan hujah Al-Quran, sunnah dan hadis.

  Setakat ini, para tokoh Umno/BN dan penyokong serta ‘ulama’ mereka tidak mampu mengemukakan hujah ilmu untuk mempertahankan sikap mereka. Kenyataan demi kenyataan mereka hanya berupa rangkaian tuduhan karut marut yang berbau politik kepartaian, perkauman dan prejudis, tidak lebih dari itu.

  Ini menunjukkan kedangkalan ilmu Islam mereka, tetapi malangnya pandanga mereka ini benar-benar merosakkan imej Islam.

  Saya memetik pandangan tokoh ulama berwibawa, Dr. Muhd Nur Manuty mengenai hal ini. Dalam sebuah kenyataan beliau berkata:

  “Sekurang-kurangnya ada empat pandangan mengenai persoalan orang bukan Islam masuk dalam masjid. Pertama: Mazhab Hanafi yang membenarkan bukan Islam memasuki semua masjid.

  Kedua: Mazhab Syafie yang membenarkan masuk kesemua masjid melainkan masjid Haram dan kawasan tanah haram Makkah.

  Ketiga: Mazhab Hanbali yang membenarkan untuk memasuki Masjidil Haram dan lainnya setelah mendapat kebenaran dari umat Islam atas tujuan-tujuan yang munasabah. Akhirnya, Mazhab Maliki yang tidak membenarkan memasuki semua masjid melainkan kerana dharurat kerja.”

  Menurut Dr. Muhd Nur Manuty lagi, beberapa peristiwa di zaman Rasulullah juga boleh dijadikan panduan. Baginda pernah membenarkan ramai orang bukan Islam masuk dan tinggal lama di masjid. Rasulullah juga diriwayatkan pernah menerima tetamu Kristian dari Najran di dalam masjid Madinah, malah diizinkan oleh Nabi s.a.w untuk menunaikan solat mereka di dalam masjid dan nabi menyebut kepada sahabat: “Biarkan mereka (untuk menyelesaikan sembahyang mereka)”

  Kepelbagaian pandangan ini menggambarkan keluasan hukum Islam dalam persoalan yang digembar-gemburkan sebagai isu besar ini.

  Hakikatnya, kata beliau, majoriti ulama silam dan kontemporari jelas mengharuskan bukan Islam memasuki masjid biasa dengan syarat tertentu seperti keperluan mendapat keizinan umat Islam atau badan berkuasa Islam, mempunyai sebab yang munasabah dan menjaga adab-adab yang telah ditetapkan.

  Oleh yang demikian, tambah beliau lagi, adalah tidak wajar bagi siapa jua untuk menyempitkan sesuatu yang tidak jelas dari sudut nas-nasnya dan dalil-dalilnya. Apatah lagi jika kita sememangnya berpegang dengan mazhab al- Syafie sebagai mazhab rasmi umat Islam di negara ini.

  Lebih jauh lagi, kata Muhamad Nur Manuty, sikap menghalang bukan Islam memasuki masjid ini adalah bertentangan dengan semangat yang diputuskan oleh Muzakarah Jawatankuasa Fatwa Majlis Kebangsaan Bagi Hal Ehwal Ugama Islam Malaysia Kali Ke-90 yang bersidang pada 1 Mac 2010 telah memutuskan bahawa pelancong bukan Islam diharuskan memasuki masjid dan ruang solat dengan syarat yang telah ditentukan.

  Menurut beliau, amalan menerima bukan Islam memasuki masjid atas tujuan yang murni juga telah diamalkan di beberapa negara lain. Ia terbukti memberi nilai positif kepada keberkesanan pemahaman mereka kepada agama Islam, mengelakkan salah faham dan menjana interaksi yang harmoni dalam perhubungan di antara umat Islam dan bukan Islam.

  Sewajarnya, para wakil rakyat Pakatan Rakyat perlu diberikan pujian kerana kesungguhan mereka dalam menjalankan tugasnya dengan baik kepada masyarakat majmuk di negara ini. Apatah lagi ia memang telahpun mendapat kebenaran pihak pengurusan masjid dan dilakukan pula atas tanggungjawab mereka sebagai wakil Kerajaan Negeri Selangor.

  “Kekecohan yang digembar-gemborkan hakikatnya akan memakan tuan. Inilah gambaran kegagalan Umno selama ini dalam mendidik rakyat mengenai hakikat Islam. Sikap seperti ini akan menyuburkan pendirian fanatik melulu di kalangan orang Islam yang kurang berilmu,” kata beliau.

  Lebih-lebih lagi, katanya, berita mengenainya ditokok tambah dengan pelbagai fitnah baru demi mencapai matlamat politik sempit yang diperjuangkan.

  Dr. Muhamad Nur sentiasa mengingatkan bahawa umat Islam tidak boleh merelakan diri mereka terus dibelenggu dalam kerangka pemikiran sempit politik perkauman dan agama ala Umno ini. Ini kerana ia akan menjadikan kita semakin lesu sementara masyarakat bukan Islam pula semakin menjauh dari kita.

  Hakikatnya, kata beliau lagi, tanpa mereka jangka, krisis yang mereka wujudkan ini akan menjadikan orang Melayu dan masyarakat Islam lebih memahami agamanya secara total dan lebih berkeyakinan bahawa Islam dan masyarakat Melayu akan lebih terjamin di bawah Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat pada masa depan.

  Tan Sri Ismail Omar  (pic, right) will have a tough act to follow. In his 4 years as IGP, Musa Hassan has set the template for the rebranding of the PDRM. He's had to battle not just corruption within the force but also growing contempt from politicians - both in the government and the opposition - and a pressing need to improve the lot of the policemen. Musa remains an unpopular individual to some politicians but to the cops, especially at the grassroots level, he is a hero respected and loved.
  
  To the rakyat, an IGP is measured by his track record of fighting crime and making their environment a safer place. And to Musa's credit, the crime rate has dipped tremendously, especially in the last one year. One of the highlights during Musa Hassan's tenure as IGP is the capture of Mas Selamat, the alleged terrorist who escaped Singapore's inescapable prison. Mas
  Selamat was planning an attack against targets in Singapore from his hideout in Johor when Musa's men arrested him. Johor, of course, was where Musa made his name as a CPO earlier this decade, during which he launched a massive crackdown on crime, especially gangsterism and made-for-Singapore vices in and around JB.

  Memperkukuh Kekuatan dan Perkembangan Terbaru Dari Sarawak

  Sepanjang lawatan saya ke Sarawak, kemajuan pasukan kerja rakan-rakan pimpinan Keadilan di Sarawak begitu membanggakan. Dalam rapat khas bersama pimpinan negeri petang tadi, saya sempat meneliti draf manifesto. Tumpuan adalah isu royalti minyak, pendidikan percuma, ruang kegiatan seni dan budaya semua suku kaum. YB Fuziah turut memimpin perbincangan mengenai persiapan jentera pilihanraya.

  Ramai juga yang bertanyakan pandangan saya berhubung desas desus perletakan jawatan Ketua Menteri yang sudah lama memerintah, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud. Bagi saya ianya sengaja dihebahkan. Pastinya menyedari suasana dan budaya BN, usaha akan dilakukan untuk mengerah jentera parti mereka membuat ikrar menyokong kepimpinan beliau.

  Bagi kita, isu kepimpinan bukan soal peribadi. Maka isu perletakan jawatan tidak relevan. Perubahan kepimpinan sepertimana yang berlaku sebelum ini tidak menjanjikan sebarang perubahan dasar. Sistem sama terus diamalkan- angkuh dengan kuasa, rasuah berleluasa dan tidak ada kepedulian terhadap penderitaan rakyat. Makanya tanggungjawab kita yang bergerak dalamKeadilan dan muafakat Pakatan Rakyat, adalah untuk menjelaskan agenda kepada Rakyat dan menumpukan usaha menuntut reformasi – yakni menolak kezaliman dan menegak keadilan.

  Apple announced iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch which fixes bugs and add new features: HDR photos, Game Center, etc. iOS 4.2 will include AirPlay and Wireless Printing for iPad.

  iOS 4.1 for iPhone & iPod Touch

  Apple announced iOS 4.1 update for iPhones and iPod Touch which fixes some iOS 4.0 bugs, e.g. proximity sensor issue, bluetooth, iPhone 3G performance.

  New features included High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos, HD video upload over WiFi, TV show rentals, and Game Center.

  Game Center allows you to keep track of your scores, challenge friends, play multiple-player games against your friends. No friends? No problem, it will auto match a player for you.

  iOS 4.1 will be available as free download sometime next week.

  iOS 4.2 for iPad

  Besides the iOS 4.1 features, iOS 4.2 for iPad will also include new features: AirPlay and Wireless Printing.

  AirPlay allows you to stream music and video to iDevices over WiFi. Wireless Printing make printing document is possible on iPad.

  My two cents

  HDR photos is useful addition feature for iPhone 4′s great camera. The Game Center is an exiting feature to kill your bored time and challenge friends(e.g. who wasted most time on iPhone games ).

  The multitasking feature of iOS 4 is most wanted by iPad owners. Sadly, iPad owner needs to wait till November to get iOS 4 for iPad. AirPlay and Wireless Printing both make iPad closer to a netbook replacement.

  So the rumors appears to be true. Apple had just announced the new iPod Touch. It is thinner, more beautiful and many more. Just name it. Retina Display, A4 chip, 3 axis gyro, iOs 4.1, front facing and rear camera and you’ll love it, it now comes with FaceTime! It’s not too much to say that the new iPod Touch is nearing iPhone 4 features except, probably making phone call over the cellular network. It has FaceTime though, so you can still make a vide call though Wifi with the loves one without paying a single cent, right?

  Traitors – A Trademark & Tradition of Umno! (Martin Jalleh)

  The Umno-dominated government stubbornly sticks to the same old tricks to try to sink the Opposition. One such stale attempt is to label as “traitors” those who refuse to suck up to its spent elite leaders.

  And so Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid (AZ) who apparently ran out of steam to shut the Opposition up on the Scorpene submarines scandal, resorted to calling Nurul Izzah a “traitor”.

  It seems that the Member of Parliament (MP) has stained the nation’s image by revealing on 4 Aug. 2010 in an interview with Kompas, a newspaper in Indonesia, that the country’s first submarine cannot dive.

  Below are his comments (in bold) followed by a response which when added up points to the ironic conclusion that it is the Defence Minister and Umno who could be the real traitors after all!

  AZ: “The statement has damaged the country’s image in the eyes of the world.”

  Strange, since when did the supremacists in Umno really bother about world opinion?

  AZ: “She has undermined the country’s reputation.”

  Bolehland already has such a bad reputation for her buckling economy, brain drain numbers, a “bunch of idiots” in the judiciary (N H Chan), bowed media and biased and brutal Police Force.

  Added to that is the burgeoning bigotry, “bloody racists”, brute-majority parliament, buffoons in the MACC and a badly “screwed-up” AG Chambers! What is left of our “reputation” that Nurul can do more harm to?

  AZ: “It is an act as that of a “penderhaka” (traitor).”

  What about Umno’s self-serving sycophants who deceive, deny and deprive the poor Malays of what has been due to them, like the RM52 billion worth of shares allocated to the Malay community since 1971?

  The Umnoputras betray their own race by bleeding this country dry and siphoning and stashing their ill-gotten gains overseas whilst making the non-Malays the scapegoat for the “failure” of the NEP!

  AZ: “As a member of parliament, she should have been more ethical.”

  Does AZ mean “ethical” as in a trumped up sodomy case without penetration, a life blown up by a C4 explosion, a tragic death by “self-strangulation” and a colossal RM12.5 billion case of daylight corruption?

  AZ: “The manner in which she disparages the Malaysian armed forces is disgraceful.”

  The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) does not need to be so defensive, for Nurul does not need to disparage the Armed Forces. With the help of greedy Umno cronies they often end up disgracing themselves.

  Take for example, in 1985 Mindef bought 88 A4 Skyhawks from the US (which she used during the Vietnam War) and then left 35 of them parked in the Arizona desert. No one knows where they are now!

  A defence attaché in the 80’s commented on the purchase of certain tanks and armoured personnel carriers: “I hope to God Malaysia never gets into a war. They couldn’t get out of their own footprints.”

  It was an utter disgrace when PSC-Naval Dockyard, owned by UMNO crony Amin Shah Omar, failed to fulfill its 1998 contract to build naval vessels. Yet, the Finance Ministry overpaid it about RM1 billion!

  In fact, Najib, as Defence Minister, left a “disgraceful” legacy offinancial mismanagement, irregularities in procurement, wastage and even grave allegations of kickbacks, bribery and corruption.

  In the 2002 acquisition of two Scorpene submarines for one billion euros (RM4.7 billion), the commission of 114 million euros was allegedly paid to Perimekar, a company of Razak Baginda (a close ally of Najib).

  In 2003, Malaysia bought 18 Sukhoi fighter jets worth US$900 million. A commission of US$108 million was allegedly given to Umno stalwart Adib Adam the chairman of the local company handling the deal.

  AZ must have found the disappearance of two F5-E jet engines worth RM50 million each from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Sungai Besi rather embarrassing and disgraceful.

  Over the past 23 years, RM180 billion of the rakyat’s money has been spent on national defence! Yet our military capability is still in such a scandalous state today. Can anything be more disgraceful than this?

  AZ: “She has put the security of the nation at risk.”

  The real enemy is within. The country is at its greatest risk with Umno’s rogues, racists, religious fanatics and rabble rousing newspapers – all of whom are allowed to roam and run riot!

  AZ: “Politicians should stop politicising national defence issues.”

  Yes AZ, it is disgraceful for Umno to use national defence spending as a surefire money-spinner!

  AZ: “Although we may have differences in opinion, we should stick to the truth…”

  The truth is that Nurul was only reiterating what AZ had revealed inParliament on March 17 that one of the submarines was not being able to dive because of technical problems. Surely AZ is not a traitor?

  Nurul nipped the Minister’s nonsense (that her statement had threatened national security) in the bud by arguing that

  • the problems regarding the submarine were common knowledge
  • AZ had himself said that such technical problems were also faced by many other countries
  • information on the dive status of any submarine in the world was easily available.

  She pointed out to the defensive minister: “If it is true that the minister is a patriot, why then is he not supporting the MACC’s probe on the commission paid to Perimekar Sdn Bhd…?”

  She added that the navy’s revelation that it was only conducting its integrated navy exercise once, instead of three times a year in order to save cost (Bernama, 6 Aug.) was even a greater security threat!

  Harebrained Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein Onn jumped on to AZ’s bandwagon and added that Nurul’s criticism of Malaysia abroad “proved that PKR’s struggles were not accepted in this country”.

  The Umno vice-president added that “the opposition pact clearly failed to win the hearts of the people to the extent that it had to go abroad to explain their struggles pertaining to national issues”.

  Why then did the PM have to go to the US to explain his policies to Obama and why pay RM50,000 in an attempt to get his opinion-editorial article published in one of the major newspapers in the US?

  In inferring that Nurul was a traitor, he forgot that his grandfather was a “good traitor” who had formed two parties to fight against Umno and so was his father who refused to join Umno Baru until his death!

  Minister in the PM’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom said that Nurul had “sinned” by tarnishing the country’s image. The ambitious Umno man forgot he had majored in many sins as a young major!

  Alas, Nurul Izzah is a young MP who, by her own merit, is daring enough to dive deep in search for the truth and in spite of the uncertain implications. She just happens to be the daughter of Anwar Ibrahim.

  In contrast, we have Umno’s “old” men whose statements betray their shallowness and who, in trying to keep Umno afloat, are bent on using their silly scare tactics, sabre-rattling tricks and sinister theatrics.

  “Penang for Beng Hock”: Support Teoh’s family, justice for Beng Hock!

  After 1 year of Teoh Beng Hock case happen, this tragedy making Malaysians cannot ignore this issue. During the year, Malaysians can easily see the judicature cannot bring justice for him, the recent‘suicide note’ and the Royal Commission of Inquiry not set up is more confirmed this.

  In such circumstances, Beng Hock had become the sacrificial lamb of a distasteful power struggle fuelled by greed, hatred, and the thirst for revenge as the nation is experiencing democratic transition. Therefore, we appeal to the citizens of Malaysia to attend a forum name: “Penang for Beng Hock”. Support Teoh’s family, justice for Beng Hock!
