Just when I thought I have nothing to write again today, I realized I have neglected to show you our dinner which we had at Kuala Selangor after the unforgettable encounter with the Malawati Hill monkeys. What’s nice to eat in Kuala Selangor? Of course its exotic fresh seafood which is very famous here.

We were not sure which restaurant to go to though, but upon reaching the end of the road which we were on (not sure what’s the name), there were two large restaurants. One being River View Seafood Restaurant and the neighboring one is called Jeti Seafood. We decided to choose the Jeti Seafood as there were slightly more patrons.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tanda tanya mengenai kes pembunuhan pasangan suami isteri dalam dua kejadian berasingan di Rawang dan Gombak, baru-baru ini, terjawab apabila suspek yang melakukannya ditembak mati polis di Jalan Pahang di sini, malam tadi.

Suspek dikenali sebagai M Usup Osman, 34, keturunan Aceh, menemui ajal di tempat kejadian kira-kira jam 10 malam itu dengan beberapa kesan tembakan, termasuk dua di dada dan satu di kepala.

Menurut Ketua Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah (KJSJ) Selangor, Senior Asisten Komisioner II Mazlan Mansor, ketika ditemui di tempat kejadian berkata, suspek diekori polis dari kawasan Chow Kit sebelum ditembak di hadapan Kompleks Galleria, Jalan Pahang.

“Sebaik menyedari dirinya diekori, suspek mengeluarkan pistol jenis Walter dan mengacukan ke arah polis, namun anggota kami yang cuba mempertahankan diri terlebih dahulu melepaskan tiga das tembakan ke arahnya.

“Suspek mati di tempat kejadian dan polis turut melihat kelibat seorang lagi rakan suspek berjalan menuju ke bangunan berhampiran, namun dengan bantuan Unit Anjing Pengesan (K9) suspek kedua ditahan bagi siasatan,” katanya.

Katanya, dengan kematian suspek, polis percaya berjaya menyelesaikan kes pembunuhan pasangan suami isteri berkenaan.

Baru-baru ini, seorang pemandu teksi, Anuar Ahmad, ditemui mati dengan dua kesan tembakan dalam sebuah longkang di Rawang, manakala isteri kedua mangsa, Sariningsih Nilam, 35, ditembak ketika menaiki motosikal berhampiran Hospital Jabatan Hal Ehwal Orang Asli (JHEOA) Batu 12, Gombak, beberapa hari kemudian.

Jumaat lalu polis turut menembak mati seorang daripada ahli kumpulan terbabit berhampiran Plaza Safuan, Kampung Baru di sini, dan menahan enam lelaki lain yang dipercayai mempunyai kaitan dengan kes pembunuhan pemandu teksi berkenaan.

Membaca kalam Allah didalam solat adalah wajib. Lalu mengikut ilmu usul fiqh, jika tiada terlaksana sesuatu yang wajib sehingga ada perkara yang membawa ia terlaksana, maka ia menjadi wajib. Mengambil wudhu tidak wajib tetapi menjadi wajib apabila hendak bersolat. Mengetahui ilmu al-quran juga adalah wajib mengikut teori yang sama.

Oh ya, bagi orang islam, terdapat 1 lagi perisian yang wajib dimiliki didalam ubuntu. Ianya ialah Zekr, perisian membaca al-quran yang disertakan dengan terjemahan english, bahasa indonesia dan sebagainya. Ianya multi-platform, terdapat juga dalam windows dan mac osx. Dalam ubuntu zekr boleh diinstall menggunakan Add/Remove Applications dengan mudah.

Mother’s Day is coming and I got this wonderful email that contain a story about a mother. I nearly cried when I finished reading the story. Read it slowly:

a touching story………..

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, ‘EEEE, your mom only has one eye!’

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, ‘ If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?’

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, ‘How dare you come to my house and scare my children!’ GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!’

And to this, my mother quietly answered, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address,’ and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

‘My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother.

Always tell someone that you love them because you never know what day will be their last, or your own.

Always seek to resolve your problems or disagreements with loved ones because if either of you should pass on before, the one who is left alive will have the rest of their life to ponder those unresolved feelings but will never find closure. And closure usually brings Peace…

Tidak semua orang meminati panel bar bahagian bawah dalam ubuntu. Untuk yang bukan peminat panel, altenatif yang mereka ada ialah memasang apa yang dinamakan "dock". Apa itu dock? Saya tidak begitu memilih menerangkan apa itu dock dari segi definisi, namun izinkan saya menerangkannya dari segi fungsi.

Dalam sistem operasi Mac OSX, dock berfungsi sebagai pelancar (launcher) kepada perisian dan mempamerkan perisian yang aktif dan tidak aktif. Dalam dock versi leopard, fungsi stack ditambah kepada dock dan menjadikan capaian kepada file dalam folder tertentu semakin mudah. Apa yang menyebabkan dock lebih digemari berbanding fungsi panel atau bar yang statik ialah, keanjalan dan animasi pada dock itu sendiri.

Dalam ubuntu dan kebanyakkan sistem operasi linux lain, terdapat 2 jenis dock yang popular. Ianya Avant-Window-Navigator (AWN) dan Cairo Dock. Kedua-duanya telahpun merealisasikan ciri-ciri dock yang terdapat dalam mac osx leopard kedalam ubuntu (linux). Dan masa untuk memilih tiba.

Dalam blog ini, saya banyak bercerita tentang AWN dan agak jarang bercerita tentang cairo dock. Namun, satu video telah menyebabkan saya terpegun dan saksikan;



Jika anda pengguna AWN dock, anda faham perbezaan antara kedua-duanya sekarang. Ternyata Cairo Dock telah memintas AWN dari segi keanjalan dan efek animasi pada dock. Selain itu, proses installasi cairo dock yang lebih mudah dan tidak mengelirukan menyebabkan saya mengubah fikiran untuk mengatakan, cairo dock adalah yang terbaik untuk ubuntu.

The other day (to be specific around mid April), I had to re-evaluate the accuracy of available Geolocation Database that we can use for our application and the result isn't as what we consider an accurate as we thought it should be. Whenever someone face hardship or difficulty, most will sit back and wondering why is God unfair to him or her. He/she will forget easily that whatever happens in his/her life is Gods creation and there is a blessing in it irrespective whether it is in favour of him/herself or not. A Muslim MUST believes in Qada and Kadar. Fate that is being agreed upon by oneself before being born into this world. Thats the reason for accusing nature for most incidents that happens and the popular tag "Act of God" has been taken as a joke to many Malaysians emulating someone who created that tagline.

Recently I was on my way to Shah Alam through KESAS Highway. My fuel meter shows a fuel warning that the tank must be filled. I decided to stop and fill at the Awan Besar R&R because there are three petrol stations at the location. Unfortunately all the three stations were not doing business eventhough it is open. I think there was a power failure and the pumps can be operated. So the question should petrol stations have standby generators? Maybe a common generator to be shared by a few businesses which is more economical than an individual genrator.

I moved on and planning to fill up at another station near Proton before exiting into Shah Alam. However I was unfortunate because after the Sunway Toll Plaza the engine starts choking and dies off. Just a few minutes after stopping, a KESAS Ronda vehicle came and they offered to buy petrol for me. I oblighed. While waiting I open up the bonnet and found out that there is a leak at the power steering pump. Upon checking the power steering oil, it was near empty. If the car had not stalled, I would have not knew about the leak and further driving might dry up the power steering mechanism which will result in a more costly repair.

The pump cost RM 220 with RM40 or labour and things are fixed.

That is what I consider as a blessing. The empty fuel tank lead me to detect a leak in the power steering pump and save me a heavier repair bill. Is that not a blessing in disguise?

The morale of the incident is, NEVER accuse God of whatever bad things happens to you. Take it positively just like the belief that when someone becomes ill or suffer pain, its sign that God loves you. He wash away some of your sin on this world before you move on to the afterworld which is forever.

• Eye & Lip makeup remover. Pour some on cotton square, press gently against eyelid. Press finger gently along your lashes. Count to 5 and wipe eyelid with cotton square in one slide. I use Loreal Demo-Expertise Gentle Lip & Eye Makeup Remover or Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips. The former is the affordable choice.
  

• Cream/ oil makeup remover. Dot generous among of cream/oil makeup remover on the peaks of your face (nose, forehead, cheeks, chin) and massage in circular motions to dissolve makeup on your face. Massage for a good 30 seconds and wipe off with tissue or cotton square. I use Eucerin Gentle Cleansing Milk or Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil. The former is the affordable choice.
  

Then continue with your normal cleansing, toning and moisturising routine. Good luck ya and wear makeup!

As a hugh Matchbox Twenty fan I was really looking forward to this album even though it is a greatest hits there are 6 new songs. I must say I love 95% of their songs but these new ones I'm 50/50 on. Maybe it's because Rob Thomas didn't do most/all of the song writing this time, everyone wrote it together and I don't no if that's the reason for the disappointment but... Anyway 'How Far We've Come', 'All Your Reasons', and 'These Hard Times' are great. "I'll Believe You When' was ok but the other two, I'm not crazy on. Overall it's a good collection of their 'hits' and while the new ones disappoint a little IMO it's all worth it because Rob Thomas is still just the best and anything from him is worth it. On a shallow note I'd have bought the CD just for the picture of him in the insert alone WOW! - Amazon.ca

Now we may have the reasons why we can't find parking lots around the Parliament House.

There are many visitors to the Parliament. And there are too many lobbyists who have parked themselves in the Parliament House to start campaigning though Umno party election, and the EGM that Ku Li is trying to lobby for, are still far-fetched in the calendar.

This Umno phenomenon was testified by NST's Zubaidah Abu Bakar yesterday. Quote:

CAMPAIGNING for the Umno elections has found its way to Parliament.

While aspirants do not openly campaign there, a handful of self-proclaimed "lobbyists" are now often seen in the building whenever the Dewan Rakyat is in session.

For those who are familiar with these faces, they are quite easily spotted -- in the cafeteria for instance -- trading information, cross-checking facts with one another or merely mingling with aides of cabinet ministers and deputy ministers.

While those already "working for someone" could be seen playing their roles in earnest, the others were simply pitching for potential "employers". And they tend to be quite choosy as to who they would work for as there are many among the Umno lawmakers who are keen to contest in the December party polls.

Using the services of these lobbyists or campaign managers, as some prefer to call themselves, is an acceptable practice in Umno. It has been going on for a long time although some say this norm breeds money politics in the party.

These lobbyists are also widely recognised in Umno circles as people who can make or break aspirants, being quite adept in pushing for certain candidates to get elected, or equally skilled at thwarting the rise of ambitious leaders by destroying their credibility.

And, of course, they work for money.

The more they change, they more they remain the same.

NOTE: On Monday (May 5, 2008), since my complaint, new parking lots have been drawn along the kerbs formerly demarcated by non-parking white lines to take in more cars.

It was a bright and sunny day today yesterday (just realised that it's 12:25 am). Decide to write one post before I go to bed. Here's a snap shot of a day in my life:

Sent of the kids to the nursery in the morning. My son fell down right in front of the entrance and cut his lips. few tears. Nothing serious though and he was OK after a few minutes.

Took my in-laws to the University of Warwick campus. Took some photographs. Left after having a cup of coffee at the Viva cafe. Forgot to bring my camera and took pictures with my Skypephone.


The ducks are enjoying the sun as well.

Dropped by the B & Q at Avis park and bought some blinds. It's now my favourite DIY store.

My mother-in-law wanted to buy a shoe and I took them to a shoe warehouse near my house. Spent quite sometime there.

Mowed the lawns in front and back of the house. Really tiring work. Covered in sweat.

Trimmed the hedges.

Picked up the kids.

Fixed the main blinds to the bay window in the living room with the help of my father -in-law.

Picked up the wife from the University.

Fixed the two smaller blinds on either side of the main one. Much faster this time.

Now I am dozing off as I write this. And that was my day.

As I said before, I want to try making handmade stamps of more complicated motifs. So this is my attempt with image of rooster and peacock derived from Batik semen design from Java. Batik semen is a group of batik patterns representing various organic motifs, usually incorporating a background of tendril designs. Of coz, there's alot more interesting motifs that caught my attention but I will only choose a few. The size of the rooster and peacock are approximately 4 x 3 cm and it does take a lot of patience and extra care when using the knife. Not only to avoid cutting my own fingers but also to get the image accurately shaped. Usually when it comes to the tiny details, I need to breath in and out very slowly, and sometimes I even hold my breath! Anyway, I find this hobby very mind relaxing. :)

Stamps & ink on paper

Above illustration was created using my handmade rubber stamps. You may have seen the leaves and butterfly in my previous post but the flowers and ants are from my latest collection.I gave the original ants and daisy to Rizal and Linda. But no problem, I can always make the duplicates. Other new stamps as you can see below (not that many, actually).
